STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
In 2012, all municipalities in Adams County adopted Stormwater Management Ordinances which were based on the Adams County Model Stormwater Management Ordinance of 2011. These ordinances set forth regulations that for the most part are consistent across the county. The regulations are also in line with requirements of the PA Department of Environmental Protection and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). Other municipalities in surrounding counties have similar ordinances.
These ordinances, in general, require stormwater management for any addition of more than 1000 square feet of new impervious (roof, concrete, pavement or stone) area to a parcel of land. However, most ordinances also provide for the use of a “simplified method” of stormwater management for new installations of up to 5000 square feet of impervious area. This method greatly reduces the amount of design needed and the extent of stormwater management facilities needed for your development.
I have been preparing stormwater management plans for large and small projects for nearly 40 years. For the last several years I have specialized in helping landowners with smaller projects obtain approvals using the simplified method of stormwater management. When you contact me about a stormwater management plan I will research your location and determine the least costly and intrusive way to design a plan to satisfy the requirements. I can prepare most plans using the simplified method for under $1000.
